INTRODUCTION 1.1 GENERAL The electrical power distribution system is designed to supply electric energy as economically as possible, with an acceptable degree of reliability and quality. In a power distribution system, the distribution transformer is the most important apparatus. The role of the transformer begins at generating station as the power is generated at the maximum value of 11 VK at generating stations in India and is far away from the load centers. This power needs stepping up to extra high voltages for reduction of current and subsequent losses during transmission.
