Sherlock Holmes
Cthulhu Mythos Adventures : 2
(Author) Ralph E VaughanSherlock Holmes and fantasy writer HP Lovecraft did not meet until 1981. This introduction was made by Ralph E Vaughan in the seminal story "The Adventure of the Ancient Gods." Previously appearing in a small press journal, then as a limited-run chapbook, this out-of-print tale was available only as a high-priced collector's item, out of reach for most readers. After more than 30 years, it is again presented to a new generation of readers. Also brought back into print in this collection is "The Terror Out of Time," the first teaming of Sherlock Holmes and Professor George Edward Challenger, Conan Doyle's other literary creation, to fight the horrors of the Cthulhu Mythos. In addition to the two out-of-print stories, this collection also presents tales of other encounters Sherlock Holmes had with the minions of Cthulhu, both early in his life and later on. The stories not only feature Lovecraft's monster-gods, but reveal little known aspects of Sherlock Holmes' life and character.
