Womlit's Rag

Frank Lakin, a temporarily laid off airline pilot, comes home to Tideswall, and decides to look for a part-time job. He finds himself working for a 'freeby' advertising newspaper with a strange, very much 'past-his-sell-by-date' editor, at the end of a long career in Fleet Street, on a downward spiral since the demise of the Sunday Pictorial. The rest of the staff are a. ignorant of the 'fourth estate' as our hero, and Lakin is introduced into local affairs, newspaper rivalries, various celebrities. and between them they cause havoc in a general election campaign with a whole circus of bizarre characters.
